Back on the Path

Job loss is an extremely traumatic ordeal in many, many ways. The stress and anxiety level is high, the loss of income presents financial problems, and self esteem is often destroyed. Some times, loosing your job has been equated to the loss of a loved one. Other times, the person who finds himself or herself jobless may experience some of the same feelings of helplessness and dread as a small child lost in a dark and foreboding forest. The range of emotions range from shock to anger to fear and disorientation.

There is no path to safety, no familiar landmarks, no easy answers and usually no one beyond family members to offer comfort. On this basis, Cave Spring United Methodist Church has created "Back On The Path", a support team of caring Christians seeking to minister to residents of the Roanoke Valley, Southwest and Central Virginia, who have lost their jobs.

While "Back On The Path" is not an employment agency, nor are its members professional social workers or trained human resource people, it is our mission:

To build a support team of caring Christians from the congregation and the community at large;

To provide encouragement, help repair bruised confidence, to lend a prayerful heart and offer a sympathetic ear to those who have lost their job;

To assist those in need by "being there"... to listen, to offer suggestions, and provide a meeting place to discuss common problems, challenges and ways to overcome their situation;

And, finally, to create agendas and assemble professionals from the church and community at larger for our regularly scheduled meetings to guide, instruct and inform those in need regarding ways and methods of becoming employed once more... and back on the path.

You can get Back on the Path Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m.!
