Cave Spring United Methodist Church in person. The Cave Spring family welcomes you to attend our worship services, special programming for all ages, musicals and opportunities for Christian fellowship, growth and service. We have recently added a 9 am praise service in addition to our traditional worship services at 8:30 am and 11 am.
I hope you will take the time to come and visit us one Sunday morning. We seek to be a church where you can feel at home and feel like you are among family. When you are at Cave Spring may you find yourself surrounded by people eager to join you in sharing God's love and grace.

WEEKDAY SCHOOL & MOTHER'S DAY OUT
The Weekday School is dedicated to meeting the needs of the whole child; spiritually, emotionally, socially, mentally, and physically at his/her own development level. We wish to be a joyful and satisfying beginning for each child's school life. Our curriculum and teaching methods are based on Christian principles and values. Learn more

CAMP ALTA MONS, located in scenic southwest Virginia, is owned and
operated by the Roanoke District of the United Methodist Church. The 875-acre
mountain and valley historic site was formerly a healing springs retreat center
known as Crockett Springs. It is now a modern camp and retreat center offering a
wide variety of programs and year round facility options. Summer camp is offered
for rising first through twelfth graders. Camp Alta Mons offers a small group
(10-14 campers and two counselors), Christian, outdoor camping experience.
WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS
When was the last time you were able to schedule an evening of GREAT food, wonderful fellowship, and dynamic ministries? That is what will resume on Wednesday evenings, starting September 10th. A cafeteria-style meal is served from 5:30 to 6:15 PM, followed by special interest classes, adult and youth bible study, children's activities, and choir practices. (A nursery is provided from 6:00 -7:30 pm for infants K.)
Come join us for great food, fellowship and programs for all ages.
Wonderful Wednesday programs will conclude on May 7th. They will resume again after the summer.
Adult meals cost $6 and children 12 and under eat for $3 (Family maximum is $20) what a deal! Please call the church office to confirm scheduled dinner and programs.
Registration cards are in the pew registration folder. Please put the registration card in the collection plate or call the church office by Tuesday to register or cancel.

By supporting the Endowment Fund, you are giving thanks to God, and you are investing in the future of your church. Never before have our people known such Godly blessings and have had available such financial resources as we do today. Fellowship Events
Note – Join the “Back to school & Sunday school Celebration” by attending our Family Movie Night, THIS FRI, Aug 22 in Wesley Hall. We’ll
begin with ice cream sundaes at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall, and then continue by viewing “The Bee Movie” beginning at 7:00 PM.
Bring your friends, family, cuddle items, comfy chairs & blankets, etc. and enjoy the fellowship!
Note – A Silent Auction/Dinner Fundraiser for our children’s mission project for the New Orleans Playground Fund & our church budget will be
held on Sun, Sept 14. Wanted: more donations of items to auction - Be creative! Join the fun! Contact Laura Flick or Julia Greer.
Note – Our Church-wide Picnic is scheduled for Sun, Sept 21 at Camp Alta Mons. Chicken, drinks & paper products will be furnished for the
1:30 PM potluck meal, and then a wagon ride tour of the camp is at 2:30 PM. Additional camp activities to be enjoyed at your leisure!
Note – P. Buckley Moss has contributed a print for a drawing at our Silent Auction on Sun, Sept 14. Donate $1.00 per ticket (6/ $5.00) to
participate. Tickets may be purchased (where the print is on display) Sunday mornings in the Welcome Center & weekdays in the office.
Note – WANTED: donate your unused baskets for our Silent Auction prize packaging. Place baskets in the marked box under the stairway and
the committee will use them to creatively bundle the items you’ll want to return to bid on! They need LOTS of baskets!
Worship Highlights

Note -- SAVE THE DATE: RALLY SUNDAY is Sept. 7. On this day we begin our fall routine of classes for all ages, our youth activities resume, &
3rd graders receive their Bible gift from the congregation. We celebrate VOLUNTEER SUNDAY, when members return forms to commit their
time & talents in 2009 for the various programs& missions of the church. Come and be a part of the excitement!
Note – Our sanctuary flower calendars have scattered openings this fall. 2 arrangements are needed each Sunday. Sign up on the
poster in the Welcome Center and fill out the information sheet. Floral Renditions will bill you. (each arrangement is $35.oo + tax and del.)
Educational Events
Note – Lifeline Screening will provide health screening for strokes at CSUMC on Oct 14, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM at a cost of $45.00. Additional tests for
irregular heartbeat, aortic aneurysm (AAA), and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) are available for an additional charge. An information
session will be held on THIS Thurs, Aug 21 @ 9:30 – 10:00 AM in the Reception Hall.
Note – ALL children’s Sunday school teachers are invited to a teacher breakfast THIS SUN, Aug 24, 8:45-9:45 AM in the Fellowship Hall.
Committee & Group Events
Note – The Administrative Council Annual Planning Retreat is THIS Sat, Aug 23, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM in the Reception Hall
. ALL members are urged to attend as we brainstorm plans for our 2009 church programs & ministries.
Note – Crafters will again gather on Wed, Sept, 10, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in the Reception Hall to make & repair our Chrismon tree ornaments.
Note – LIFELINE will be giving screenings for strokes on Tues, Oct 14 in our downstairs Reception Hall from 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM. The cost is
$45.00. Other screenings will be available for an additional cost. Watch for more information.
Note – “Green Tip”- Recycling old phone books would save 2 million cubic yards in our landfills and save an estimated 650,000 tons of paper! Children & Youth Events

Community Outreach
Note – Kroger Care Cards are available on Sunday mornings at the Reception Desk. Purchase a card for $5.00 and then add funds at your
favorite Kroger Store. CSUMC will receive 5% of members’ purchases using this card from Kroger’s Community Program.
If every church member spent just $10.00 per week using one of these cards, we would receive over $40,000 a year!
Note -- Visit the Youth office to select the color & size of your handmade Fuzzy Flip Flops. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
