You are going to die. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but your body will not live forever. All that you accomplish and store up in this life that is not eternal will be left behind. For most of us, these are not happy thoughts. For some of us, they are refreshing.
The Bible tells us not to get too comfortable in our skin. This world is not home for us. When you were born you switched homes. From a small tummy to a huge world. Sight, smell, sound, and many other things you couldn't know because you hadn't ever experienced them are today so common you don't think much about it. Heaven is that again. This life will seem so small and limited compared to the life to come. That's because this isn't where you were meant to stay.
Most of us forget that truth at some point. We live here on earth like that's the whole story. We make bad decisions because they seem best for this life right now. But this life will go away, and you can't be sure when. If it's tomorrow or a hundred years from now, at some point you will leave your body and all its possessions behind. Then you will get a real picture of what you've done with your life.
Whether it's a comic book, a computer, a car, a house, or a winning lottery ticket, nothing is worth getting in the way of your relationship with God. What you know as life today will end, but the next life will go on forever. Don't trade something eternal for something that will be gone tomorrow.
Thinking about my purpose:
Know. This
world is not my home.
Remember.
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what
is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." -2 Corinthians
4.18
Think about it.
Since this world isn't my home, what am I going to do differently?
