Confirmation
Confirmation at Cave Spring UMC
Helping Students Take Their Next Step in Faith
Confirmation is an important milestone in a young person’s faith journey—a time when students explore what it means to follow Jesus, grow as disciples, and claim for themselves the faith into which they were baptized. In the United Methodist Church, Confirmation is not graduation from church; it is an invitation to live as part of Christ’s family with intention, curiosity, and commitment.
At Cave Spring UMC, our Confirmation program—The Way: A Confirmation Journey—is designed for students in 6th grade and above who have not yet been confirmed. Through scripture study, meaningful conversations, hands-on learning, worship, service, retreats, and our creative Kai & Navi story experience, students discover what it means to belong to God and to the church.

What Students Will Learn
Throughout the journey, students explore:
-
Who God is and what it means to be baptized
-
The story of Jesus and the foundations of Christian faith
-
How the Holy Spirit works in and through us
-
The history, beliefs, and unique practices of the United Methodist Church
-
What it means to live as a follower of Jesus today
-
How to ask big questions and grow deeper in faith
-
What it looks like to serve, worship, and belong in a church family
Every lesson includes scripture, discussion, interactive learning, and a creative storytelling component that follows Kai and Navi’s journey through “The Way.”
Expectations
Participation matters. We ask students to:
-
Attend as many sessions, retreats, and events as possible
-
Be active in worship and youth group, as living out our baptismal vows means being part of the life of the church
-
Communicate when they must be absent—life happens, and we understand
-
Come with an open mind, curiosity, and willingness to grow
Parents and mentors are also invited into this journey through gatherings, conversations, and resources to help support their student’s faith.
